The Facts:

Sure, it has been said that it’s not the software but the “musician” who makes the music, but no one is going to dispute that great beat making software can go a long way in the music game.  For instance, how do you know that you aren’t just spinning your wheels with beat making software that simply does not get the job done.

Many “beat-makers” like to start with the freebies and work their way up.  I personally have no problem with this, in fact I think that if you are going to make beats, you should probably learn the basics first, and what better way to do that than with some good old fashion free-ware.  However, I personally believe that you would be slightly better off spending as little as twenty-bucks or so to get the next best thing to “free.”

The reason I say that you should go free are quite simple: you have no idea what you are getting.  This is not to say that you won’t end up with some good software, but the risk of what this may do to your PC or Mac is a big one.  Sometimes you have no idea what types of other things like spyware might be ending up on your system.

However, if you know of a great free-ware software beat maker then by all means take the plunge.  My argument is simply that you may be slightly better off spending a measly twenty-bucks to get a software beat maker that not only out-performed the free-ware by a long shot, but won’t have you wondering why your computer is suddenly all “buggy.”

Contrary to popular belief, you really can get a lot for your money when it comes to software beat makers if you are interested in a basic music software system that will provide good drum beats you can use for almost any genre of music.  That would include hip-hop, R & B, rap, techno, industrial and pretty much any other type of drum beat you can imagine.

The bottom line is that whether you try out Sonic Producer or some other software beat maker, you should always remember that in some respects, you still get what you pay for.  The right software, is really the right type of beat making software for you, but this does not mean that all beat making software is created equal, and furthermore, does not mean that you need to spend a lot of money to get a beatmaker that is right for you.  The point of this articles is simply that making a small investment might save you a lot of heart-ache in the long run.
