Software Beat Makers - To Buy Or Not To Buy: That Is The Question
There are many different types of software used to make beats. Whether you are into hip-hop, rap, R & B, industrial or the hundreds of other music genres and sub-genres, all you really need to be concerned with is how much you are willing to spend. As you may already know, beat making software can range from thousands of dollars to absolutely free, but the saying: "you get what you pay for" also applies to beat making software.
Of course, this means that not every beat maker software is designed equally, and while some music software might offer great sounds, others might be easier to use. The trade-off between ease-of-use and sound quality will always be an issue, and if you have enough money, you can get both without working up a sweat.
One of the nice things about software beat makers is that you can always start with some free-ware software and see how those do for your musical expression. The fact of the matter is that doing this will help you decide which types of beat software you like, and which types you don't like. In other words, by playing around with some of the freebies, you may find yourself understanding a lot more about the type of software beat maker you are truly interested in owning when you finally decide to throw down the bucks.
Personally, I think that a good choice would be low-priced beat making software, like Sonic Producer (so you know you are aren't also downloading trojan horses, spyware etc.).
In this way, you are downloading a beat software that was at least created for the intent to sell, and you may also discover that you get a lot for your money.
A lot of these types of music beat software programs are going to allow you to do more than you think in a very easy to use interface because frankly, they didn't put in the money to provide an incredibly complex music software experience. But don't think that this is necessarily a bad thing, by all means, this could be a great way to get your feet wet without digging at the bottom of the beat making barrel.
Making beat software is of course a somewhat competitive market, and it is true that many different types of incredible beat making software's are available if you have the cash and want to go through the learning curve of a new software (which may not be all that bad depending on which beat software you decide to go with). The issue comes into play when you have not done your homework and run out and buy the first shiny piece of equipment (or beat software in this case) you happen to come across.
This leads us back to the decision to try out free-ware beatmakers or try out a inexpensive beat making software like Sonic Producer. In this respect, I again have to say that paying just a little bit for a simple software beat maker might be the best choice. At least, if you do this, you will not have to worry about the chance of viruses, or any other number of issues regarding compatibility, possible upgrades etc.
