Reviewing Beat Makers
This is the most important part of your decision. When purchasing a beat maker, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. For one thing, you need to remember that it's important you don't spend more money then you need to. If you decide to spend a lot of money, you will inevitably regret it. Especially if you don't know what your doing.
What's so nice about making hip-hop and rap beats with DUBTurbo or Sonic Producer is that you can get your feet wet without spending a lot of money. You will soon discover what you like and don't like about certain beatmakers and then you can move forward from there.
I started out with both the DUBTurbo and Sonic Producer and discovered things I liked about both beatmakers. However, after playing around with these for a while, it will be inevitable that you will want to up your gear. At this point you will either go for Logic from Apple (my choise) or ProTools.
The thing to remember is that if you spend a grand to get the software and hardware needed (not including a super fast computer) you still need to learn how to make beats and if you don't know if this is really for you, saying goodbye to a grand is a big deal.
Just remember that it's easy to play around with an inexpensive and insanely simple to use beatmaker like DUBTurbo and Sonic Producer to start with. If you discover after using these beatmakers that you have a "talent" for making beats and have a real passion for it, you should definitely look into Logic or ProTools and do a ton of research to find out which digital audio program will be best for you.
